Meet Sage
Learning from the outdoors and having lived on both the Eastern and Western Canadian coastlines, Sage is pursuing an Environmental Studies Diploma. Growing up alongside various forms of flora and fauna all across the country, she's experienced a lot just by being surrounded by natural spaces, and credits a lot of her learning to the time she was allowed to spend within it.
After her first steps into the conservation & sustainability industry through joining Capilano University's program of Environmental Studies, she met Mel and Megan through her Environmental Biology course in the Spring 2026 semester. Sharing her energy and passion for the needs of our environment, she was onboarded as a media coordinator, where today, she’s at the forefront of the Wildlife Conservation & Ecology Society’s public eye and vision, pioneering our communications in which change is not only advocated for, but made.
Initially born in Langley, raised in Ontario, and moving back to British Columbia where she resides today, Sage was exposed to various environments across Canada growing up, observing the variations of flora and fauna in each respective area of the country.
Homeschooled, her passions for sustainability and conservation were encouraged to grow, as she was often encouraged to spend time in the outdoors, learning through nature. Growing up surrounded by the outdoors, she's always found a connection to something bigger - a shared world with all living things and beings. Being raised in various environments, her spark for ecological conservation was the result of many factors of her upbringing.
Often, David Attenborough and the Blue Planet documentaries were a staple while homeschooled, and being exposed to many different mountains, lakes, oceans, and forests while homeschooled all helped contribute to the love she has for conservation and sustainability today. With her former time spent around horses and past experiences with equine therapy, she's committed to protecting our natural spaces from the approach of encouraging others to appreciate it, in aims to protect it..
As the forefront of the public eye for the Wildlife Conservation & Ecology Society, Sage weaves the organization's ambitious vision of a world where both wildlife & humans can co-exist together with her mission of making each new day that comes to her a better one than the last, targeting direct action through her own actions and conservation communication for a better tomorrow.
She dreams of a future where the human race can find ways to protect and thoughtfully co-exist with the natural world. Through learning, observing, and listening to the needs of wildlife, she actively works to help communicate the change that needs to happen to achieve conservation goals and her mission.
In her spare time, Sage can be found listening to her favourite artists, of which include Fleetwood Mac, Fleet Foxes, First Aid Kit, Bon Iver, and The Cranberries. She finds great enjoyment in beachcombing, as well as using iNaturalist on hikes to identify the wildlife in the environment around her, doubling as a natural way to build on her field skills in plant & animal species identification! She also loves to thrift, bake, adventure, and is always keen to learn new things and activities!
